This 8”x10” photo was adhered to the broken glass from water damage. To start, a backup scan with glass still attached. Photo paper removal was done by immersing in very hot water, soaking, then very carefully peeling the photo away in small areas. Heat was the key factor here. Some small additional damage happened at this point but fortunately not in critical areas.
Picture scanned at 300 dpi into Adobe Photoshop. All color was removed from the picture, background recreated and damaged areas repaired. File converted to color mode and warmer sepia tint added. Larger and higher resolution files given to client for poster size enlargements that would exceed the 8” x 10” original format. Some sharpening and contrast adjustments for quality. Border added to eliminate blank areas to the bottom and side.
Artistic filters applied to give a hand drawn pencil look in black and white and color accents.
